Resources for Writers
/ˈwāˌpoint/ plural noun – a stopping place on a journey.
Over the years I’ve felt compelled, and also been asked, to teach, coach or mentor other writers. I don’t think it’s because I’ve got everything figured out – far from it. I’m on this journey as much as any writer. But I believe that storytelling does a great deal of good for our planet and other people. Too often, stories aren’t told because a writer doesn’t know where or how to begin. Some of the best stories may be the ones that are never published. Or, a writer can’t make enough of a living off writing and gives up in the process.
Let’s change that.
My personal journey has taken me all over the map. I’ve freelanced for magazines, written for films, blogs, anthologies and brochures. I’ve written books and dabbled in a number of genres. I can’t possibly cover every topic here, but after nearly 20 years in the industry, I think I have a sense of the FAQs. I’m not the first to do this – there are many places to find resources about writing – but I think we seek out those we want to learn from. Perhaps I’m that guide for you.
I’m on this journey with you, and we’ll keep going, waypoint by waypoint. Together.

When my book, Lights to Guide Me Home, morphed into a full-length memoir, I discovered myself in the throes of a process I didn’t expect — one in which I needed to consider the impact of telling my story. Telling my truth. Upon the book’s publication, I had the opportunity to write a piece for Literary Hub in which I explored the topic of memoir and the fine art of weighing our truth.
